Tuesday from the QM 2

We reached the mid point last night....1500 miles in either direction from land! Seas are rough and the ship is handling it well. A little rock n' roll but not bad at all. Sun is out with a few clouds and miles and miles of blue water. Kerry's dad would have loved the sight of birds in the middle of the Atlantic today. Mom is teaching full sessions each day and loving it and they love her too. About 35 in each class is a fully packed room. We feel like a rock star on the ship as everyone seems to have either been in her class or heard about her workshops. Mom and Dr. Ruth on the same ship....holly cow! The food is great and you will all be proud that I am pacing myself. Today was a relaxing day for me while mom was teaching and listened to a classical pianist and then walked the length of the ship a couple of times....3x equal 1.2 miles. Then went to the indoor pool with a large sky light on the highest deck of the ship....went to the stern and saw the British flag being put on the flag pole and layed out to get some sun. Not much wind on the stern and the view of the wake and blue water is incredible. After mom's afternoon session I took her to the indoor pool for relaxation and a Cunard Cooler before going to the planetarium which is on board this ship. Tonight is formal and will be wearing the Tux and mom an evening gown...according to the regular cruisers we have met the dining room is unmatched by any other ship in splendor and elegance....except maybe the Titanic.  We are enjoying the dress up for our evening meals and all of the neat night clubs. After dinner it is like a pub crawl for us and we keep finding little spots tucked away on the different decks from jazz to big band dancing. I am hoping that it is a clear night as I found a great spot on the highest deck to view the evening sky. As you can imagine it is pitch black w/o any city lights. Looking out the large windows along the sides of the ship you can see the ocean and the wake of the ship as we move at a pretty good clip of 21 knots. Went to the bridge and there is a spotter at all times...the ship is powered by 4 large motors which can rotate to change direction so their is no rudder. There is a bank of computer terminals with large maps, GPS and other sophisticated equipment but most of the time we are on auto pilot. Took some photos today which we will put on FB. Two more full days and then a week in the UK on a horse farm and then the return cruise to NY. Bags are packed and we are waiting for our next adventure! ...Blog written by Alan while Gina teaches her art workshop..
