Last weekend a group of local and regional artists descended upon Mary Erickson's property in Marshville, NC. From sunrise to sunset, we painted laughted and shared some great food and wine! With the exception of the fire ants and the 90 plus temperature, it was a perfect day. Mary is a fabulous artist and is very generous with her time and talent and her 40 plus acres of great subject matter!
I started the day off by venturing out in the fields where I came upon this handsome little tractor in the clearing. The glistening green paint was all aglow in the morning sunlight begging to be painted.
I set my easel up on top of the little hill in the shade where I had a perfect view to paint.
Really loved doing this little guy....did not like the fire ants!!!
Around noon time, we all went in where Mary had set up a small feast of pasta salads, fresh fruit, and yummy makings for sandwiches. Did I mention the desserts...fabulous treats.
After cooling off and doctoring our ant bites, it was back out to capture the next painting.
Here in North Carolina Green is the hue so it is nice to find a nice contrasting color to pop it. I felt like I hit pay dirt when I came across this poppy red umbrella sitting on the back deck. It almost painted it's self.
All in all it was a great day...of course any day I can paint, is a great day!
